WordStats

Word tells you how many words you wrote. WordStats tells you whether anyone will read them — reading time, sentence length, readability scores, and the exact sentences dragging your text down.

The problem

"Can you make it punchier?"

You know the document reads heavy. You don't know where. The word count says 4,200, which tells you nothing about the 67-word sentence on page 3 or the fact that "basically" appears nineteen times. Editing without measurements is just rereading and hoping.

WordStats measures the document so you can fix it. Reading time, average sentence length, a list of your longest sentences — click one and Word selects it for surgery — and the top-20 word frequency with the filler words exposed. Pro adds readability scores (Flesch and Flesch-Kincaid, plus an honestly-approximate Dutch variant), per-heading stats so you can find the heavy section, and a passive-voice heuristic.

Reading time, sentence-length truth, and the worst offenders one click from being selected and shortened.

Free vs Pro

Free measures the document. Pro grades it — readability scores, per-section breakdowns and a report to share.

FAQ

How accurate are the readability scores?

Flesch and Flesch-Kincaid are computed with the standard formulas. The Dutch-adapted variant is labelled approximate, because Dutch syllable counting genuinely is — WordStats tells you that in the pane rather than pretending to a precision it doesn't have.

Does it work on Dutch documents?

Yes — the stopword filtering for word frequency covers Dutch as well as English, and Pro includes the Dutch-adapted readability variant. The passive-voice heuristic is English-only for now, and says so.

Does my document leave Word?

No. The text is analysed entirely inside your Word session — pure local computation, no uploads, no analytics. See the privacy policy.
